Should I switch stylists or switch salons?

I really like the hair salon I've been going to.

I've only been there twice and have enjoyed my experiences their.

The first time I called in a bit of a rush and was scheduled with the only person available. Second time I booked the same person, in hopes to be a regular.

But was slightly disappointed, and a tad jealous of other people at the chairs around me.

This salon has price levels...and I want to switch to someone higher on the rank, but know that their chair is ACROSS from the person I've been to twice.

Should I switch, or just start over at a new place?

Thank youShould I switch stylists or switch salons?
why were you jealous ? Were they getting better haircuts ?

If you like your stylist %26amp; just want to change the cut itself, just tell her.

If you want a different stylist for some reason, just tell her you would like to try the more expensive tart. They don't care, happens all the time.Should I switch stylists or switch salons?
Ooh, its kind of a tricky situation. But, you are paying THEM, so I would go up a level. Your hairdresser is a professional, and she should act like one if you switch. If she does get upset and shoot you an evil glare or whatever, so what? You'll have fabulous hair!

Also, you've only been with her twice, so its not like you have this amazing client-hairdresser relationship, she probably wont even notice/care.

If you are really worried about it, just say something about you wanted to try something different, or your friend reccommended you tried the upper level hairdresser. Make something up. A little white lie.

But seriously, dont stress. Most likely It'll be no big deal!
Or you can try to find out the other ones day off.
i don't mind awkward situations so i'd just up myself a level but if you dislike them i'd say switch salons period.

Do stylists at discount salons (like smartstyle or fantastic sam's) make a living wage?

I read that salary studies do not always consider what the stylists are these salons are making. I am planning on going to cosmetology school and would like to work in a high end salon but just in case that does not work out I want to know if I will be able to live on the pay. I am not looking to become rich cutting hair but I would like to start a family in a few years without having to struggle to pay every bill.

I am about to graduate with a bachelor degree but I really hate the field it is in and want a job I enjoy going to.Do stylists at discount salons (like smartstyle or fantastic sam's) make a living wage?
I have worked in both types of Salons. I was making a lot of money at the high end one, until the economy started to get bad. I made 1/3 less gross pay from one year to the next due to the economy. So I went to work at a Fantastic Sams, and I was really busy there, so I ended up making really good money there. Since you make commission in most Salons, you have to be busy to make money. Even if the prices are lower, if you are busy you are going to make more. Good Luck! I love doing hair. I have a family now, and it works great with our schedule for me to be a stylist.

I admit it...im scared of hair stylists. can someone give me advice to make my visit to the hair salon better?

Okay so hair stylists really scare me.

i never know whats going on back there because its not like you have eyes in the back of your head so you don't know if they are cutting off 1 inch or 5 inches.

they are always so.....happy.

if anyone is a hair stylist can you give me advice on getting over my fear. i really like the guy who cuts my hair. he does a great job. for some reason i am not as scared of female stylists as i am of male stylists but the thing is...hes my friends dad and its so.....akward!

i want to bring in a pic of what i want but i would be embarressed and i dont know what i want!

ideas....?I admit it...im scared of hair stylists. can someone give me advice to make my visit to the hair salon better?
I'm scared of hair stylists too lol and i'm in school to be one! I'll try to not be so happy once I get out lol. I don't like people cutting my hair cause they really could be hacking off more than I want. They should point to where they will be cutting and ask if it's short enough before they start chopping away. I always ask. Taking a picture in is a really good way to get them to know exactly what you want, and a lot of people do it so don't be embarrassed! If you don't know what you want, then I don't suggest getting anything more than a trim or long layers when you go, just cause you don't know what you want so you probably wouldn't like a drastic change unless YOU wanted it. If the guy does a good job, stick with him! It's hard to find someone you can trust to do your hair. I wish you luck and hope you get over your hair stylist fear!I admit it...im scared of hair stylists. can someone give me advice to make my visit to the hair salon better?
he is professional

so dont worry

the best thing is to take a picture with you

tell him what you want

and ask him if he has any other pictures he would recomend for your hair type

don't be shy

if you dont like his idea.. then let him know

he honestly would rather make you happy then make you cry

and for goodness sake.. always go to someone you trust
I have this problem too. You shouldn't be intimidated by your stylist, especialy when choosing a style you want and settling for something different. Try setting up an appointment so you can sit and talk about your hair and what style you want. You both should be able to come to a decision of what you want. You can ask them what they're doing to your hair too, they're not gonna charge you extra for a tutorial. Just ask them if they could explain what they're doing and why because you want to know how to take care of and style your hair. You always want to know what you should and shouldn't do to your hair.

Hope this helps.

Well, one thing you can help your friend is to introduce your friends to her as a hair stylist because she could make good money cutting hair in your place. This way, while she's still looking for a working place she could earn extra cash on the side or she could go to people's house and cut their hair.Hair salons in Dallas texas?? looking for job that pays good being a hair stylist?
