I was walking home from the town a few days ago and a hair stylist / beauty salon was advertising ear candle?

treatment I would have asked what this entails but the salon was very busy at the time so I did not ask my own probably wrong idea is that they put candles in your ears and light them ! if this is so why would you want this treatment ???????I was walking home from the town a few days ago and a hair stylist / beauty salon was advertising ear candle?
The candle is hollow, and placed in the ear - air is drawn through the candle gently removing ear wax from the ear as it goes. It's actually a really relaxing experience and very soothing. It does work, although, as someone above mentions, there is candle residue inside, it looks very different to the ear wax that is drawn out!

However, there is no need to go to a salon to have it done (and pay a fortune!), a lot of health food/natural shops sell these candles in packets - just get your partner or a friend to help. You literally stick the thing in your ear and light it, and take it out when the flame reaches a printed line - seriously not rocket science...I was walking home from the town a few days ago and a hair stylist / beauty salon was advertising ear candle?
They are special paper candles that you put in your ear and light, once lit they melt earwax and absorb it into the paper. I've heard that they are very effective.
yeah my uncle had this it clears your hears out. the candles are actually hollow and the heat somehow draws the stuff from your ear up into the candle, therefore making your hearing better for a bit.
You put your head to one side and put up to 3 of these candles into your ear and light them you can do this at home you buy them at health food stores but I would advise you to have someone with you in case one falls out and sets fire to you hair.

You leave them in and they sorta draw ear wax into them. If you look in yahoo images there are photos of them.
So that you can walk around at night without having to put the light on.
Ear candles aren't ordinary candles. They are made of some type of fabric and wax. They are hollow. You are correct...one end is put into your ear. Then the other end is lit. The heat warms the ear wax. The suction created by the burning flame draws the ear wax up into the candle. Ear candles are controversial. Sometimes they can become plugged full of ear wax and then the hot wax drips back down into the ear and can burn. I have used them many times, but I don't use them anymore. There are safer methods available at drugstores.

If you decide to try it at home, make sure you have a glass of water handy to douse the candle when you remove it from your ear.
These treaments are great and dont hurt at all.

The warm air from the lit candle creates a vacum which then draws earwax up the funnel and burns it off some is left at the end.

Ask the specialist to open it up you will be suprised how much is left there.

They are great for anyone who suffers from sinus problems. I dont but a friend does and swears by them. The were invented hundreds of years ago by the Hopi Indians in America. Have your ears done about every 4-6 weeks it great so relaxing. keeps your hearing in top shape and gives a general sense of wellbeing.

Trust this helps
Ear candling is faked want,I use to use it on the air to test there's oso some ear s hit don't know where it come from i suspect is the wax inside...this is what i examine myself don't waste $~
It is to reduce ear wax.
They absolutely suck! I bought some from GNC and used them following the instructions exactly. Nothing happened other than setting off the smoke alarm and not being able to sleep in my dorm room because it smelled like a forest fire. There are much more effective ways of removing ear wax. I thought maybe I didn't know what I was doing so I asked my doctor and he just laughed and said they don't work. I was so frustrated because my ear was plugged up and I couldn't hear. I finally dropped a little bit of hydrogen peroxide in my ear and let it bubble for a while tipped my head to the side and let it flow out. I did this three days in a row and the wax was all gone and I could hear again. Not to mention it was like .01 cents rather than the ten dollars the ear candles cost me. So to answer your question, you would not want this treatment.
It removes all the wax from your ears, makes you hear better its not a painful procedure
