Estimated yearly income for hair stylist - Salon only please.?

This question is for stylists working in nicer salons (charging about $40 per haircut). What is your estimated yearly income. I am thinking about going to school for this but I want to make sure I can survive on the paycheck first :). I understand that it takes awhile to get started and build clientele.Estimated yearly income for hair stylist - Salon only please.?
I have to tell you that you are going into this all wrong. Here is why I say that. After school if you do not take the route of apprenticeship with a great salon you are selling yourself short. If you want a long lasting, rewarding and lucrative career in hair this step is MORE important than school. Although in this country school is actually required by law. I work in Manhattan an make well over 6 figures. But even when I worked in very, VERY small markets such as 22,000 people I made over 60k 10 years ago! Why? Because I learned and studied AFTER school with the best in the world. So work at least one year of apprenticing for tips plus maybe a tiny salary into your savings/ loan plan for school. Apprenticeship does not mean just sweeping hair. It should be an established program in the salon that has levels and if you complete the program they guarantee you a position.Estimated yearly income for hair stylist - Salon only please.?
allot, if you're good and booked out for weeks in advance...I bring in approx. $500 per day or a bit over 100K per year, and I love what I do.

The person who answered after me said it all quite well...You don't get your education until after you go get your license. If you go to apprentice for a few years, you will do well much faster than if you go it alone
