I'm a salon manager and NEED stylists...what are new stylists looking for in a job.?

As someone who has been where you are.... you should also decide what you want in employees.

Personally as a stylist now, not a manager, I look for education opportunities, benefits, competitive comission, friendly, professional environment. I am a professional stylist and enjoy a good challenge and continued professional growth.

If that is also the type of salon environment that you want then you should look for those types of people. You can train the skills, you can't change the attitude. Go to local schools and find the people you want. Also talk to local sales reps. They will know the local salon gossip and could send good people your way!

Working in a ';9 to 5'; salon would be an absolute nightmare for me. But maybe not for you. Decide what you want to work with first. And be picky!! You may be stuck with them for a long time!!!I'm a salon manager and NEED stylists...what are new stylists looking for in a job.?

Competitive lower rate on space rental, of coarse as well as salary. Keeping ones,own tips,unless the ladies tip someone to clean,then they all chip in to tip her. But,not sharing tips.
Me. I can do a mean ';mullet'; and an even better ';muttonchop!';
somewhere you don't have to lock up your stuff, freedom to rent or comm.,
Competitive wages as well as low chair rental.
Where are you located? I know of some great stylists that would love to get started.
