A salon owner charges $50 more for a cut than his stylists.Total for highlights/cut =$300 Do I tip the owner?

Yikes! Thats one pricey salon. I thought where I went was expensive. Highlights and a cut = $140.

But no, generally you do not tip the owners. Thats how I've always been told. You tip the workers, but seeing as how the whole amount goes to the owner, they don't require the tip.

You're paying $300 anyways. Thats a big amount, no need to tip!A salon owner charges $50 more for a cut than his stylists.Total for highlights/cut =$300 Do I tip the owner?
Yes, you should always tip the person who provides the service for you. 20%, as usual.A salon owner charges $50 more for a cut than his stylists.Total for highlights/cut =$300 Do I tip the owner?
There's no reason to ever tip the owner, even if he charges the same price as everyone else or is the only stylist. That's up to you though.
Well.. I guess if he's the one that styles your hair and such.

I guess it's just preference. He does get more than his stylist.. but if he does a really good job I wouldn't mind tipping.
Etiquette dictates that you do not tip business owners.
No that money would be better spent on a good money management seminar.
I sure wouldn't. And I also wouldn't pay $300.00 for highlights and a cut! That's crazy!!!
No, You don't.
only if its good but $300 dollars for one hair cut
no..he owns the place gets most the money his workers make there so i wouldnt
300$ for HAIR? WTF?
no u DONT if anythink tip the styleist

Are there any hair salons that have stylists who do dreads in or near Knox County, Ohio?

I've waited long enough to grow my hair out nice and long, and its time for dreads. Any suggestions on where to go? Also, if you have dreads, can you give me advice before I get them? Thanks! Are there any hair salons that have stylists who do dreads in or near Knox County, Ohio?
my top advice would to definatly get it done at a salon because they know what they are doing and if you dont and attempt to do it at home it will probably end up looking worse than you would like

most big salon chains will do it for you if you go in and explain what you want done they will set aside a morning or so to get it done

also they will be there to go back to if you have any problems and most will give you a cheaper price if you go back reguarly

oh and some more advice, you will probably get loads of people saying your hair is disgusting and ugly etc.... but dreads are the coolest hairstyle in my opinion and loads of others and just enjoy having them!

In Bangkok, where are the salons whose hair stylist are Japanese? Thanks..?

I'm going to have ';straight permanent'; done.

Funny, because I'm wondering in Tokyo, where are the salons whose hair stylists are Thai?

I'm going to have a ';wavy temp'; done.

  • Can anyone recommend great hair salons and stylists here in Jackson, Mississippi?

Hi, Can anyone recommend a great stylist or salon in or around Jackson, Mississippi? I would like to find a stylist up to date, and who could give a modern face fitting cut. Someone whom you could just tell ';I will leave it up to you?';, and they would give you a terrific cut. ThanksCan anyone recommend great hair salons and stylists here in Jackson, Mississippi?
She's not in Jackson, but she is in Meridian (about 90 miles down I-20). Her name is Rachelle and I have absolutely fallen in love with what she's done with my hair! Email me if you'd like her number.

As for Jackson, I'm sorry but I don't really know the area that well. I do know, however, that I have received some pretty heinous cuts from these people, so be extremely wary!

Hairdressing info, updates etc... for qualified stylists/salon owners?

I have just taken over a salon and was just wondering whether there are any good websites/organisations that can keep me updated on new products/legislations.. any good forums for stylists to discuss/exchange training techniques/info..any good websites that offer online info just so i can refresh/train online for free xHairdressing info, updates etc... for qualified stylists/salon owners?
If its a UK business then there is a federation of british hairdressers.

If you become a member you can display this on your window. (More professional). They will also give you member benefits like shows, training opportunities, legislation etc.

Also, go on the salons direct website, they also have products, equipment, training (latest styles etc)

Can you cut hair extensions to the size you need? And can hair stylists in salon put them on for you?

    Thanks.

xxCan you cut hair extensions to the size you need? And can hair stylists in salon put them on for you?
yes you should definitely go to a stylist to put extensions in and cut them to your desired style .However you might want to make sure that stylist is an expert in hair extensions also ? Good luck !Can you cut hair extensions to the size you need? And can hair stylists in salon put them on for you?
The best thing to do is to go to a professional stylists and have them put the extensions in. They can then cut the extensions into the style of your choice. I would not recommend cutting the extensions yourself. You should consult a stylists with an expertise in hair extensions.

  • This question is for hair stylists and salon clients : pros and cons to salon departmentalization??

i am stylist in a non dept. salon environment. i really like both cutting %26amp; coloring hair, but now our manager wants us to be dept. so i would only do color.

im really frustrated at this point, and really dont even want to stick around to see how it will work out. so far its been just a mess as far is booking goes. its making our clients upset and i am really begining to think there is no benifit to this for the stylists, just the salon.

can anyone shed some light on this subject. if you are a stylist, what duration of time are you allowed to preform services? what happens when you have a new client and are seeing them for the first time and see that their down for a partial, but actually need all over color and highlights, and a condtioning treat.?(which will make them late to see the cutter) do you do it? or do you tell them youll do it next time?

if you visit a salon, do you prefer to see just one person for cut and color, or doest it matter to you? This question is for hair stylists and salon clients : pros and cons to salon departmentalization??
I don't like it. If your a good stylist you should be able to do everything. Also, most customers know who to go to for certain services anyway. This question is for hair stylists and salon clients : pros and cons to salon departmentalization??
You should go work at a different salon.
Be more professional by offering an advice to the new client what she needed to be done but don't push her to do it right away. You might push her away. But if she asked for it then do a complete make over for her.

If I'm the client I will prefer to see just one person to handle my cut and color, that is my preference.

Where can I find Stylists for my new Salon?

try a local cosmetology school and they may be able to help you find help. or try to post listings in classified ads like the local news paper or on a web site like yahoo classifieds.

good luck!!Where can I find Stylists for my new Salon?
    use yahoo job site...
I would suggest posting an add in local newspapers. Or you could check with the employment office in your area.

    Good luck.
    monster.com or the local paper
I would say craigslist...and make sure you post in the los angeles area. Also, you should try local news papers, and posting inside stores close to the area where you are going to have your shop. Oh and you might want to try beauty schools were students will be graduating school. There are some great stylists at the marinello beauty schools.

I have been a hair stylist for 8 years, and just started a CNA class, and got an offer to manage a salon?? ?

After 8 years and a tough time getting a job in the last year, I started a 6 week CNA class. I recieved a job offer as a salon manager just a week ago, from a resume online from March. I am confused and torn as to what I want to do and what holds a better future for me. I am 30 and have three kids at home. Not sure what difference that makes but its just backround. I do love doing hair and the industry and I seem to like CNA so far. Any advice would be greatly appreciatedI have been a hair stylist for 8 years, and just started a CNA class, and got an offer to manage a salon?? ?
The management job would pay off a lot more, unless you decide to further your nursing career......CNA career isn't something that I would choose for the rest of my life. I have been a hair stylist for 8 years, and just started a CNA class, and got an offer to manage a salon?? ?
I've been going to beauty salons for 55 years. I can guarantee you that beauticians earn a lot more money than someone who is a CNA. I live in Atlanta and pay $35 to a woman who spends 30 minutes doing my hair. That's $70 an hour. That's twice what my husband, a college graduate, earns, and he's overe 70 years old. Think about it.
CNAs do the absolute worst of the worst jobs at hospitals %26amp; nursing homes. its probably not something that youd want to do forever. you can still get the certification, but id manage the salon. CNAs dont make a lot of money but they usually get good benefits. but a management position should get you full benefits too. it depends on wheather youd like to take orders or be in charge. the nurses can be really big B****ES to you too.

ive been urinated on, pooped on, bled on, bit, pinched, %26amp; called names. ive been exposed to contagious diseases, blamed by families for hospital policies %26amp; had an ostomy bag shaken into my face.

but ive also made a sick person smile, brightened someones day, listened to great stories %26amp; forged friendships.

you need to be prepared to be saddened when you see suffering %26amp; when you walk in %26amp; see your favorite resident or patient not sitting where they always sit, because theyve passed on.

its great %26amp; its so hard.

you really dont make too much money, but sometimes you feel a special feeling because of the work that youre doing %26amp; thats even better, until you need a new purse or cute shoes or something.

an area where there can be better money is in home care or hospice. if you have the kind of personality that can handle hospice, that might be worth it. but i dont know anything about working in a salon.

hopefully that gives you some insight.
I was (and am ) in the very prediciment as you. You say you are 30 with 3 kids. I'm only going to assume they are still somewhat young. If you are a manager of a salon, you will need to be on-call, so to speak, all hours the salon is open. I was in management at my old salon and I actually left the job because it took so much time away from my family that any extra ';bonus'; I got, wasn't even worth it in the end.

BUT my job was to be a stylist AND manager. I couldn't just do one. I was worn out. YOu need to decided what your priorities are in your life right now and then go with which job feels right for you.

    ~~

After reading the other post, I want to remind you that many salons, especially in this economy don't offer benefits or are really bad ones at that. Make sure if you go into management that they pay you a salary and you are not on commission. If you get paid commission as a stylist but are expected to be a manager, you will actually LOSE money because you will not be able to service your clients as much as you used to. Being a manager/stylist would pull you away from where you make your money( from your clients) . That's the problem I had with it.

    ~~

Also, a huge misconception. We get a commission off your service. The stylist did not receive the whole $35. She probably got at most 50% of that, minus taxes minus healthcare minus any 401k offered.. oh yeah... and if she didn't have anyone else in her book that day...THAT WAS ALL SHE MADE.

Take it from me...I'm seriously pissed off at Oprah and Suzie Orman right now for telling people to stop getting haircuts because now I'm sitting around all day not making a dime. (now I'm actually thinking about going into nursing!)

    ~~ok- I think I'll stop replying now~~ lol

    For Salon Stylists?

How do you maximize your in-salon productivity? For Salon Stylists?
Treat your client to a conditioning treatment as an introduction to the benefits of it. Tell them what you normaly charge %26amp; that it's on you. The next time suggest that same treatment. It works. Just keep suggesting it each service. You give a little. But It's paying for itself in the long run...

Also ask your salon rep for the beauty supply for samples of the products you sell in the salon. This not only encourages your client to buy the product but you are giving them something they should use. Clients love free stuff. They feel like their getting cared for.

Try booking your clients in advance at the end of every service. This not only ensures they get service but your gauranteed another time slot to be filled.

Try doing an incentive for your clients to refer people to you. Offer them another service like a manicure if they refer you 2 or more clients. Or maybe give a percentage off their next service...

I've found that when I give a little the client gives more back...

Go around the salon where clients are getting other services done (like a manicure) and introduce yourself. Tell them who you are. Tell them what you can do. Hand them your card. I've had many clients from doing this.

Get out there and promote yourself. Always carry your business cards %26amp; hand them out. Frequent some of the local businesses around the area. Don't be shy. tell them what you can do.

Always take records of your clients and have them fill out their info.Including their adresses %26amp; phone numbers. Send them coupons if you haven't seen them in a while. Or just a little note that shows you care for their business. Write down some of the things you talk about with them so your reminded about things ( like if their daughter was getting married or a vacation they were on) ( Or even how they like their coffee) Those are the little things but clients remember that stuff %26amp; feel special.

Recently for my new clients I send a postcard they day after the service to thank them %26amp; personalize it in my own way. It almost always gets them back for more service...

Clients always want the best treatment. Encourage them to get other services in the salon. Your co- workers need business too. I'm sure they would do the same for you.

Always remember you provide service. That's what clients are there for. Clients feel better when their remembered, valued, and most importantly heard. Pay attention to what they like. Listen to what they are saying. This is important because it is all about them.

Hope that helps. Sorry for writing too much...For Salon Stylists?
You should look into the Wyane Grund business teachings, very insightful. Do you want to be the stylist that waits for the busy bus to come or the one who fills their chair. Start booking all clients in advance, like their next apt or even next two at the time of their last apt. Its like they think oh no she's so busy I might not get in so then your filling your chair.
Carefully booking clientele according to how long you take with each one( i.e., if you take 15 minutes to apply a color to one client and 30 minutes to apply another, then you could book the two 30 minutes apart and apply the second while the first is processing) or (if you do more than one person in a family you could book them together and work on them at the same time). If any chemical service has a processing time of 45 minutes then you coul allow yourself a simple haircut (mens or childs) during the processing time. All this of course as long as they show up on time for you.

    Question for you salon stylists/workers...?

I dyed my hair myself a permanent auburn way back, probably a few months now, and the roots are starting to show, but i'm naturally dark brunette so it isn't that obvious. My question is, I want to dye my hair myself a semi-permanent chocolate brown, would it be okay to do this? Or would I need to bleach my whole hair and start from scratch? It was my first time with a permanent dye so I really have no idea... lol.. help please! :)Question for you salon stylists/workers...?
As long as you're not trying to go lighter than your current base color, there's no need to lift the color first (which is what you are referring to by ';bleach';). There's nothing wrong with adding brown on auburn, but chances are the color will not come out looking like the color on the box; instead, your hair will probably turn out brown with red undertones. If you want to completely eliminate the red, use a toner/red color corrector on your hair either before applying haircolor, or add one full packet to the dye mix before applying it to your hair. You can buy toner at your local beauty supply store for about $1 per packet.Question for you salon stylists/workers...?
    Hi,

Well, I'm no expert but I don't think you have to bleach as you're not going lighter, or could just dye a few hair and see if it turns out OK first.

Hey, drop me a line at topothetown3@yahoo.co.uk if you'd like to chat about what I can do underwater. Wink wink nudge nudge lol
As long as the chocolate brown is darker than the auburn you dyed it, it will work fine!

Should my stylist have told me she raised her price over $30 before I came to the salon?

She is in a salon out of town and I drive 40 mins to go to her. This was my second time.I think she is very good at what she does but I feel it's a pretty huge rate increase. As I was in her chair she mentioned her hair cut rate has gone up about $10 but never mentioned thay color has gone up too. What do you think should she have called her client to let me know of the increase?Should my stylist have told me she raised her price over $30 before I came to the salon?
I don't know about the call before hand - It would have been polite since you have to drive so far, but I would have been ticked if she had me in the chair before she told you that. I would find a different stylist and advise her why you are leaving. - -But that's just me.Should my stylist have told me she raised her price over $30 before I came to the salon?
No, she can't be calling all her clients to let them know of the increase and it was only your second time seeing her. She might send emails in the future. It very hard to find a good hair stylist but only you can decide what's best for you.
She should have told you when you called to make the appointment. My hairdresser changed salons and when I called to make the appointment, she gave me the updated details and new prices that she was charging. I kept her anyways because she is good and worth every penny! It's not fair that she waited until you got in the chair to tell you!
No I don't think she should have called you but the salon should have advised you that they were going to be having a price increase in the following services. And they should have advised you at your last appointment or at the beginning of the appointment you just went to.
well i guess you can consider this is a lesson learned...next time ask..have your prices changed????..before driving across town....but i do believe she should have told you before she started on your hair..or when you called to schedule your appointment

  • I have been a hair stylist for 15 yrs, and want to move to an upscale salon/spa in another area.?

Unfortunately the owner passed away at a salon that I was very happy at, so I had to move. In the process I have lost a large number of clientele, and this new salon is barely bringing in business. I am a very talented hairstylist, and would like to move to a more upscale salon/spa. The problem is, I would have little or no book to bring, and would have to start over again. Do you think it is possible that a place would pay me a salary until I reached that number in commission. Any advise would be extremely appreciated.I have been a hair stylist for 15 yrs, and want to move to an upscale salon/spa in another area.?

I'm going to go to a decent salon to get my hair cut (for once). Prices are about $40 for a cut. Is it customary to tip above these prices, or is that just at places where hair cuts are like the service minimum ($12-$16)?

Is it rude to change stylists within the same salon? What would you do?

The first stylist did not know what to do with my hair texture. She did not do what I told her to do, and I ended up leaving with a big afro. Then she met me in the parking lot on the way to the car and offered to have me come back the same day so she could try and do what I told her to do in the first place. This was not feasible because my toddler was antsy and exhausted and my husband and toddler was ready to go home. She gave me her personal number to call her back and make arrangements for another day. I called her back a few days later. She said she would call me right back, but she never did.

I've been too scared to ask for the other stylist because the first stylist was really nice and I don't want to hurt her feelings. I wish I have an answer for you and you asked a great question.
I would go to a different salon. If you are not happy with the way your hair came out at that salon, then there not a good chance it would come out good with a different sylist since most salons have the stylists use the same techniques.

I would look for an upscale professional salon. Call and ask before going, and describe your hair type. see if they are experienced enough.

Nope! It's not rude to change stylist within same salon. Why? Because stylists aren't being paid just to serve you nor to serve selected customers only. They are being paid to accommodate whoever wants to avail of the salons services. If in case you tried changing one and your ';stylist'; reacted...';negatively';, thank God that you changed one since you just discovered that her/his values is not ok. Nevertheless, if you tried changing then your ';stylist'; accepted it with opne heart, that would mean she/he will strive better to improve his skills and would later try to strive more to enhance his craft for him to win you again! Changing stylist would serve as a test for them and for us to discover their inner values. Besides, we feel more confident with people whom we trust well.....

Went to hair salon to be come a blonde and well the hair stylist messed up!!?

Ok last July I went to Champers Salon to some blonde high lights in my brunette hair and it was fine. But NOW I want to be a full blonde so I went back to Champers Salon and saw the stylist told her I want to be a full blonde and I want to get bangs and also long layers in my hair (My hair is half way down my back). She said ';Ohhhh well bleach is so bad for your hair I dont think it will be good.'; And me not knowing much about bleach etc. I was like ohhhh then what will you do? She said i think its better to high light all the brown thats still in your hair so blend in with the blonde that you already have and then you will look like an all over blonde. Well to make a long story short.....my hair is MORE BROWN now then before I walked in those doors. And she only put ONE long layer in the back of my hair...I have been upset all night last night and I want to go back there and demand my money back in full... I sat there for 3 hrs and 10 minutes...FOR WHAT??? To be more brown...I wanted to be blonde!!! I also paid $177.00 practically for my bangs to be cut...cuz I got no long layers and brown hair...Please help!! I am so sad.Went to hair salon to be come a blonde and well the hair stylist messed up!!?
you need to demand your money back and go somewhere else.Went to hair salon to be come a blonde and well the hair stylist messed up!!?
You should walk back in there and tell them exactly whats happened, tell them to pay you back and/or give you the bleaching free... if they continue to refuse, tell them thats fine, you'll just let everyone you know just what happened... that usually gets them up and running... because who knows? the girl they messed up on might just be the most popular girl in town... so just try this....
If they won't refund your money just dye it yourself with some store bought hair dye. Its a hell of a lot cheaper and you can get the bleach and ammonia free blonde hair dye if you are afraid of damaging your hair.
go back theere and tell them you want it done again for free, and make shure you get someone else to do it. if your unhappy they should do it again the what my salon does

Does anyone know of any dominican or puertorican hair stylist or hair salons here in San Diego?

im from nyc and have been here in SD for about 3 yrs now and i have yet to find a good hairstylist especially one that knows how to blow dry hair w/o using a flat iron as their main source to dry hair..w/e happen to using rolos and a good blow dry??!??!Does anyone know of any dominican or puertorican hair stylist or hair salons here in San Diego?
I know how you feel. Apparently there aren't many Dominicans or Puerto Ricans in California- so when I was out there for a year, I pretty much had to deal with whatever I could do myself.

Anyway- what you're looking for is an ethnic hair salon. What I'd do is go to your telephone book %26amp; go to the salon section. Start calling different places %26amp; ask if they have anyone who is a specialist in ethnic hair. Ask if you can speak to them or leave your name %26amp; number for them to call you back. Ask them about their techniques (especially the drying technique, since that is what you're concerned about) %26amp; if you feel comfortable about what they're telling you- ask if you can make an appointment to come in.

I live in NYC %26amp; trust me when I tell you that I know what you're going through. I moved to Delaware for awhile %26amp; I went from being able to go into any salon %26amp; them knowing what to do- to me not being able to go into any salon.

    Good luck!!

New salon made hair too Dark. Going back to usual stylist, what can she do?

Long story short I have been coloring, then highlighting my hair for years so I have a lot of dye in my hair but have cut most of it off. For some reason whenever I get my hair dyed at the salon my hair after a month the dye will fade and go back to this orangey shade. I always go lighter usually a cinnamon color. My natural color is a very dark brown. The girl I go to is really good but last time she did my hair it faded within 3 weeks so I made the stupid decision of going to another salon my friend recommended me too. The girl did it horribly and the highlights look brassy, even though I just got my crown done and I asked for a chestnut base and the color came out almost black, even darker then my natural. I spoke with the owner who said all she could do was add more highlights and the base may lighten up with washing it. I actually would like my money refunded but what else can I do. I am going to go back to my usual girl on Saturday even though I feel bad I tried someone other then her in the first place lol. I want my hair back to one shade, the cinnamon color I usually have. If she dyes my hair over with my usual color over will it take? Should I just have her strip it out? I know something can be done and the other place just didn't want to or don't know what to do and are just unprofessional, plus I wouldn't trust them touching my hair again.New salon made hair too Dark. Going back to usual stylist, what can she do?
IT WILL LIGHTEN WITH SHAMPOOINGNew salon made hair too Dark. Going back to usual stylist, what can she do?
Unfortunately the salon in question is correct. If your hair was colored too dark the only thing that you can do is more highlights. Hair color will only lift (lighten) your natural hair, it can darken colored hair but not lighten. More highlights is pretty much your only option at this point. I assume by ';stripping'; your color that you're referring to a malibu treatment. This really isn't going to give you the results that you want. If I were you I'd go back to my regular colorist with my tail between my legs, admit it was a mistake and let her do the best she can to restore your desired color. Don't expect it to look the way you want it to after the first service. Whenever you're making a change it normally takes at least 3 processes to achieve your hair color goal. If your color lasts 3 weeks without fading, that's pretty good, most likely you just need to go to the salon %26amp; have your colorist freshen it up with the proper toner. This is usually a $12 service. General rule: highlight every 6-8 weeks, tone it every 3. Toner is a temporary color service designed to counteract brassiness (which is commonly mistaken for fading).

If you ever decide to change colorists you may want to ask her to explain the color wheel to you. If she can't do that then she doesn't understand the chemical process well enough to allow her to touch your hair.

I want to be a hair stylist but I have never worked in salon any suggestions?

I graduated from cosmetology school 3 years ago. I have my license but before I took my boards I got offered a job with good benefits that I couldn't resist and I was scared to do hair anyways. Now I am still a little scared but I know I can do this and I am willing to take classes the salons may offer. I have a real desire to do this I have wanted to since I was a little girl but my fear held me back now I am afraid it may be too late does anyone have any suggestions?I want to be a hair stylist but I have never worked in salon any suggestions?
if you do not want to jump into it completely, being an assistant would be a good start, you could get a feel for a salon atmosphere and you could watch the stylists and pick up on their skills, beauty school only prepares you for the state board test not the real world. going into the business slowly may help take some of your fear away.

I am a hair stylist that just switched salons a few months ago what is the best way to build up my clientele?

i have been doing hair for 3 years but a lot of that time i worked part time as a receptionist and the other doing hair. this past december my salon got new owners and changed the whole salon without a lot of notice. So i found a new salon job but wasnt able to get in touch with most of my clients. over the past 7 months i have been able to keep only 5-10 of my existing clients and have gained some at my new salon but i want to be busier. we have tried fliers, we even put our salon news on the pizza boxs at the pizza place near by. i just need some new ideas of how to get my name out there and really increase my business. i would love to hear what has worked for other people after they have started a stylist job at a new salon. thanks a lot

I'm not sure how much this will help (or if it will help), but have you considered having a blog? I find google's blogspot pretty easy to use.

I can see that a blog with hair tips, product reviews, and other related posts would be useful. Plus if you use keywords (tags) like hairstylist, specials, and you city name in your description, your link will turn up anytime someone uses a search engine to search for a hairstylist in your area.

Good luck.I am a hair stylist that just switched salons a few months ago what is the best way to build up my clientele?
Joy R is right on the money. Act like a professional! Not hanging on to your client list was a mistake - so work on planning ahead.. keep those client cards - it is all about making the customer feel special so that they do not want to go anywhere else. A good neck rub does wonders! I would not be much interested in switching to a stylist that may be leaving soon - so if your baby break is going to be short let your people know that you are not going to leave them hanging. Ask for referrals.
Encourage people to talk about themselves and make them feel interesting. Then put some notes on an index card after they leave so that next time they book you can look at it ahead of time and then ask them stuff like ';How did your sister's surprise birthday party go?'; or ';How was your vacation?'; or whatever.

  • Can you sue Hair Salon in California for work performed by stylist who is an independent contractor ?

A salon in California charged me over $1,000 to attach a front lace unit. My head was shaved bald and the unit was attached, however, the unit that was attached was not 100% Human Hair which is what my receipt states I paid for. I immediately began having problems with the unit and within 3-weeks had to expend more money to have the unit replaced. The stylist is refusing to refund me my money and the Salon is alleging no liability because it said their stylists are independent contractors. Both the salon and the stylist have ';canceled'; license with the State Board. Can you sue Hair Salon in California for work performed by stylist who is an independent contractor ?
You can sue anyone for anything...winning your case and collecting damages is an entirely different issue. Can you sue Hair Salon in California for work performed by stylist who is an independent contractor ?
Whoa, did they even offer to fix it for free? If not, that's just bad business. Did the unit have any human hair in it? If you didn't ask them to fix the problem though, their is no way they could've done anything about it. They did do the work so they will charge you for that but they should've fixed it for no charge. If they refused to fix it you might have a case but I don't think you can sue them for not refunding any money. I would ask a lawyer, I don't know the technicalities.

Should I stay working as a hair stylist or take the position as salon manager?

I have been a stylist for 4 years and still have days when I am not as busy as I would like to be. In the 4 years since I have received my Master in Cosmetology I have taken 18 months off to have my son who is now three years old, moved three times and once to a different side of town and have worked at 3 different salons. While I am the lead stylist at my salon ( and the most busy/requested), I still have days like today where I did not have one client. All day!

I wonder if this is the start of a steady decline of the hair styling industry (anything that is not a necessity) and just a glimpse of what to expect between a new election and the stock market, etc.

My question to you is should I stay working 40 hours a week, making commission (45% of 0 = 0 - gas money) doing something I truly love and am good at? Or should I look into the management job that has become available at the salon?

The management job will demand my full attention and will pay a guaranteed salary. It will also mean that I am the one who has to pick up all the slack if people dont show up or call out, it may also mean that I spend allot more time at work and will definitely bring work home with me. Remember I am a mother and wife, if I dont cook my family starves kind of thing.

As a stylist is is crucial to your business that you stay in one place for a long period of time so people know where to find you and as a stylist you can build your business thru word of mouth referrals. I currently am able to go to work, clock in and color and cut hair all day clock out and go home. That is a great day except like today when I clocked in for 9 hours and did not have once client. This is the first day in a long time that this has happened (the no client all day thing).

I have a family and we have our own home to take care of. I do have previous management experience. I have been with my current company for one year and the management position is with the same company in a neighboring city, twenty minutes away.

Currently, I charge $55 for a women's cut and style and $30 for men's cut and style. My partial foil price starts at $85. I live in Atlanta, GA. My current salary varies based upon commission between $16,000 and $20,000/yr. As a manager I would look at a base salary of $40,000/yr with the opportunity to earn bonuses based on department performance.

I would love to hear any/all thoughts as it is really weighing on my mind. I'd like to hear esp. from people who are changing the way they spend their money to see if their hair is an area they are cutting back on.

Also I would like to know from other managers in the small business arena what you like most about your job and what you like least. Are you having trouble staffing qualified, top notch people? Are your employees happy? Tell me something to help me see the whole picture. Is the money worth it??? Thanks in advance.

Should I stay working as a hair stylist or take the position as salon manager?
You could stay and cut hair forever. That is the best choice. Managers get fired all the time and for very little reason..Should I stay working as a hair stylist or take the position as salon manager?
Looks like you've given serious thought to a tough decision and if my opinion is worth anything, I wouldn't step in to management. I managed a salon and worked full-time behind the chair and believe me, you can't do it all in 40 hrs a week.

Something will have to give and with you being a dedicated mother and wife, you and your family will end up paying the price.

Have you considered doing anything else related to the cosmetology industry besides hair? My hair stylist owns a salon and services clients and it's all she can do to get out of there at the end of the day to spend time with her 10 yr. old son and husband.

She recently hurt her shoulder and now can't even do hair. Thank goodness she started supplementing her income with a business I introduced her to last year. She sells primarily to her clients and their referrals but also does business outside the salon.

The tool we market is called a ';little wrinkle iron'; and can make you look years younger in just 10 minutes. No hype. It's been featured on major networks and I can send you more info if you're open-minded to taking a closer look.

While most industries are feeling the pain of our economy, our company has just had it's 12th straight month of record growth and that means bigger checks for us:) It's truly a ';recession proof'; business and could be the right fit for you or maybe not. If you want to hear more, let me know and I'll be glad to help.

I accidentally under-tipped the master stylist at a high-end salon, any advice on how to make amends?

A few days ago I got a hack job done on my hair at a low-end salon and after much arguing, they didn't want to fix it. After that, I ended up walking to a busy high-end salon down the block and asked if I could make an appointment with them to cut my hair. The master stylist overheard my story and offered to squeeze me in on her lunch break that same day and ended up charging me what the jr stylist would've charge. I was very ecstatic with the end result of my haircut but when it came time to paying the tip, I (embarrassingly and unintentionally) tipped her only $5!!! I was so high on how my haircut turned out, I didn't realize it until that night! After years of habitually tipping $5 at low-end salons, I can't believe I tipped that little on what should've been a $60 hair cut! I loved how she cut my hair and I want her to be my regular stylist from now on, but I think I may have insulted her. Any advice on how to fix this?I accidentally under-tipped the master stylist at a high-end salon, any advice on how to make amends?
gift card for coffee and a nice thank you noteI accidentally under-tipped the master stylist at a high-end salon, any advice on how to make amends?
Did you rebook for another cut in about 6 weeks? If not, call into the salon and book another haircut for 6 weeks... rebooking is just as good as a great tip (clientele is what keeps a stylist in business... plus it'll let her know that she did such a good job that she just got a new client.) Then tip her extra good when you go back.
go in there and drop some more money buy and just tell the people at the front desk to give it to whoever did your hair and write a sticky note with it and tell her you had to go to the atm
go back and explain yourself, she should understand. just emphasize hoe much you love your new hair and how grateful you are. if she isn't in leave a note in an envelope with extra money in it too.
Next time when you get your haircut tip her again =D but a better tip

She just met you so she won't take it offensively

Don't worry about it-- she is probably happy she fixed your woes LoL
just go back and tell her what you said here. that you were so excited about your hair cut, you didn't realize. then tip her, and thank her again
It's never too late to go back in and give her the rest of the tip. Also, again tell her the cut was perfect!
if you went back with a bit more of a tip and told her how much you now love your hair, she would be flattered, im sure. And then... maybe make an appointment for your next visit :)
Keep going back to her to get your hair done.. Gaining you as a regular client will make up for it.
Go back and pay her more. Simple, right?
Just go in a.s.a.p. and tell someone at the front desk to give the stylist the rest of the money. The sooner you go in the better...you don't want to go in and say ';Hey...I got my hair cut two weeks ago, I didn't tip enough';.

Just ask them to send your apologies and also ask them to tell the stylist that you were really pleased with how she cut your hair and that you'll definitely be returning.

    Hope this helps :]
Write a nice, simple thank you note, place it in the envelope with the additional tip or maybe a gift card to a nearby coffee shop.

You could always explain in the note that you were alittle short on cash and wanted to leave a larger tip but were unable to at the time of the cut.

Take the card to the salon, with the stylists name on the envelope, ask the receptionist to pass it along or give it to the stylist yourself.

I have medium length layered hair.Hair stylists or people who work in a salon?
I'm not a hair stylist but my sister is and she taught me this trick. It works for reeeallly short hair or long. First you have to get a small curling iron. 1/4 inch is best but NO bigger than 1/2 inch. don't clamp the hair down like people think they are supposed to. You need to do small pieces obviously. Hold the iron UNCLAMPPED at the root of the piece you want to curl. Now just wrap it from the root all the way to the tip just wrap it around the iron. Yes, it's a bit more complicated because you have to hold it there, but you are doing SMALL pieces so hold it only about 8 seconds, 10 if your hair is THICK. This is easiest if you split your hair up and pin up half of it, curl that, then let it down and curl the top half. Also I didn't mention, if it is seeming hard to get the root started, twist it once around, then wrap it on the iron. To make it stay, use some hairspray that says max hold or something along those lines, it works best if you spray each piece while it's on the iron. At the end, do a light spray all over the finished hair. I hope I didn't confuse you but trust me it's not hard when you figure it out. This should help.Hair stylists or people who work in a salon?

Need help from salon owners, managers, people that deal with stylist.?

Here's my story first-I'll try to make it short and sweet. Went to a good local beauty school for my managing nail tech license (passed with scores in the high 90's) and am now enrolled, currently have 1000hrs, at a paul mitchell school. I went there because I thought it would be better, learn more techniques, more opportunities-WRONG! I am currently looking to transfer, I feel I am unprepared for the ';real world';! Nothing they said they would teach is happening, lots of talk no action, and WAY too crowded to actually teach and supervise us properly. I have done some amazing things not because my school gave me these opportunities but because I spend my free time emailing people all day-I'm a pm jr associate, worked on stage for sexy hair, worked with angus mitchell, place 3rd in designing the new pm school ad campagain, been in the pm newsletter, etc. My school teachers tell me I'm going nowhere in life??? Would you hire me if I went to a good local beauty school?Need help from salon owners, managers, people that deal with stylist.?
My mom is a cosmotologist and owns her own salon and she won't hire people that don't have a good couple of years of work experience in other salons. Even then she will check with the places they worked and find out how they are at working and check with their previous customers to see satisfaction levels. They then get a trial period before they can even have their own booth.

How much do you think is a fair price to pay for a haircut and blow dry by a licensed stylist at a home salon?

I am an experienced cosmetologist who is starting to do hair from home. I have converted a room to a salon area, including a shampoo bowl, and professional chair. How much would you pay to get your hair cut in this setting, and consider it to be a good price? Please say what you'd consider a good price for a woman, man and child. All cuts include blow dry styling, and my customers always say they love their hair. I am a licensed cosmetologist. Ive been doing hair for the past 3 years. My haircut salon price was $40-$50. I also started my own business at home...salon room and shampoo room, retail and everything a salon would provide for you...because I am at home working I decide to bring my prices down for my clients convenience..I charge $30 including shampoo, blow dry and style. My clients are happy with my work and price.
    Woman::cut only 12

well for a price for a typical haircut (not including coloring, etc) i'd say $30ish for women $20 for men and $10 for children. keep in mind how much experience you have- the more experience i'd say the higher the charges. and of course the more work involved the higher the prices.
i say 30 bucks for woman and 15 for men kids 10 maybe?? usually, if i go somewhere and its too cheap, i usually think theyll do a cheap job.

  • Are clippers at the salon sanitary? Stylists please help?

My stylist was done cutting my hair but trimmed it with the electric clippers and cut my neck a little yesterday. It didn't seem to bleed, so I thought it was okay, but there is a small scab there today. Do they sanitize those things? Do I have anything to worry about? Can I catch something? Hopefully I'm just being paranoid. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Are clippers at the salon sanitary? Stylists please help?
I am not a hairdresser but surely these accidents are rare. When clippers are used for cutting hair and nothing untoward takes place, then I would say that they are most definitely not sanitised as a matter of routine. Same applies to scissors in all likelihood as I have never seen any evidence of scissors being sanitised. Old fashioned barbers were careful with regard to combs but I think that standards have slipped in many barber shops where they often do not even bother to sweep up the hair off the floor. Standards are better in some european countries where aprons are Still worn but when did you last see a barber wearing an overall? The new mens hair grooming parlours present a better and smarter image but prices are often ridiculously expensive. Are clippers at the salon sanitary? Stylists please help?
Yes they're clean and sanatized. The clippers at any salon have to be cleaned if there is any accident with the skin. Don't worry.
they are sanitized between every customer

    no worries

If you went to a salon and were given a stylist like this, what would u do?

I booked a haircut with a high class salon on park avenue in Manhattan, it cost $100. I havent cut my hair in awhile so I figure I will get a great stylist and splurge.

I walk in and a girl about 19 walks over to me, she looks like your typical hair washer, spanish, frizzy hair,,, she doesnt even tell me who she is, she tells me to sit in the chair, then i realize she is the stylist.. I totally freaked out, she also didnt know what layers meant. I got up and was going to walk out i was so upset. Then she tells me reception can give you another stylist, they did and she was professional.

So would u have done the same? or walked out?

Why do you think they gave me that girl? Im almost certain she was a hair washer and not an actual stylist. If you went to a salon and were given a stylist like this, what would u do?
Expensive salons don't guarantee quality and class. You did the right thing. I probably would've walked out. Hope your haircut turned out nice for the price. If you went to a salon and were given a stylist like this, what would u do?
i would have done the same. i would not trust someone who didnt know what layers were to be cutting my hair. plus, i dont want a 19 year old who cant even do her own hair to do mine. good choice, you never know what kind of cut you may have ended up with.

Why do you think they gave me that girl? Im almost certain she was a hair washer and not an actual stylist.

i gave them a bad review on citysearch, even Supercuts doesnt have hair stylists like that.. She looked like she was from some ghetto salon. If you walked into a salon and were given this stylist what would u do?
    Judgmental much?

I can understand you judging her after she didn't introduce herself and didn't know what layers were (I mean, what kind of stylist doesn't know what layers are?)...but really the descriptors ';typical hair washer, spanish, frizzy hair'; doesn't make you sound like the nicest person.

She may have been talented...but now you'll never know...If you walked into a salon and were given this stylist what would u do?
Hmmm, kinda sounds strange. I have a really good hair stylest that I go to and she charges only 36 dollars for a hair cut. She made it look really nice and I don't look like a guy! Yay! Honestly, I wouldn't judge a stylest based on their looks but if they don't know what layering means, then she shouldn't be working at a hair styling place because she should have learned that stuff in beauty school.
she might have been new. i doubt they purposely gave her to you. she needed to start somewhere and she could have been the best hair doer you ever had.
I like how you pointed out that she was ';Spanish.'; Because that wouldn't matter to me; I would think that persons of all nationalities could excel in their chosen fields.

But I would be very, very uneasy if her hair looked worse than what I wanted done with mine, and if she didn't even show minimum customer service of introducing herself. And I would have run screaming from the chair if she didn't know simple hairstyling terms.

I can't guess why someone like that would be working at a salon where a haircut cost $100.00. Maybe in a salon where a haircut cost $15.00. Or if she was cutting hair out of her house or something.

I went to a salon yesterday and had the stylist dye my hair mahogany brown. But why is the color uneven?

The color of the strands of hairs on the top (2-4 inches from the scalp) looks brighter than the rest. They all look brown but the ones on the top have a brighter color and are shinier. It's weird, but when I go out and stand under the sun, the color looks even. Is it just the lighting? Oh and someone told me that the color near the scalp area really tends to be more pronounced and brighter than the rest of the hair. The person also told me to give it at least a week, she said that the ';real'; color of the dye will come out only 1-2 weeks after the color application. Is this true? Or do you think that there was something wrong with the application of the dye? Please I need your feedback! Thanks a lot!I went to a salon yesterday and had the stylist dye my hair mahogany brown. But why is the color uneven?
maybe cause the stylist messed up that wasnt a tough one dudduduI went to a salon yesterday and had the stylist dye my hair mahogany brown. But why is the color uneven?
well it can be cuz roots take color faster than the rest of the hair cuz the heat on your head. or another thing if your hair was dyed before and you had roots and it was dyed the roots come out better cuz its virgin hair and healthier and it harder puttin color over color. but after a week or 2 it might blend better...
Have you ever seen someone and all their hair is all one block colour?

It's pretty rare, so don't worry. The hair at the the top of your head will be brighter, lighter, whatever in different lights.

Don't worry about it-- Only worry if it goes green.

they could have several different names, Manicurist, nail technician, they may even be called a beauty therapist as sometimes they don't just do nails, they can do all different things, like nails, facials, pedicures, so there is quite a few names you could call a professional who works at a salon.

When you own a hair salon what do you provide for you hair stylists?

In turn for your stylists paying booth rent what do you supply? (example: things like shampoo and conditioner)When you own a hair salon what do you provide for you hair stylists?
I am not a hair stylist nor have I worked in a hair salon. But I've been getting my hair done regularly, at the same salon, for years. I've seen girls come and go. From what I've seen, the hair stylist isn't so much an 'employee' as he/she is a tenent. What does your landlord provide? A place to stay. In this case, hair stylists are provided work space but not much else. The work space includes use of the sink, hair dryer, chair, and actual work station. The hair stylist has his/her own supplies, including shampoo/conditioner and hair accessories (like rollers or pins),

I guess the benefit to working at a salon rather than working out of your house is that you give your client a professional image of yourself, that you take your craft seriously. Also, if the salon accepts walk ins, you can build your client base. If you're good, the walk in off the street will become your regular. When you own a hair salon what do you provide for you hair stylists?

Also how much do licensed Cosmetologists that work in a beauty Salon get paid?

I want numbers or approximations. How much do shampooist and stylists assistants get paid in a beauty Salon?
Shampooist and assistants make about minimum wage...since they are generally in training.

Trained stylists can make from about 28k - 50k, depending on their education, skills, friendliness( draws clientele) and the level of exclusivity of the salon.

    k = thousand

**The minimum wage depends on which state you live in (if you even live in the US)How much do shampooist and stylists assistants get paid in a beauty Salon?
Shampoo girls usually make either minimum wage plus tips or a flat rate under the table plus tips. As for licensed cosmetologist, it depends on their following. If you have a large based clientele you can make lots. If you're just starting out, it's rough.
i just applied ay a salon as a shampoo girl i asked one friend she said $12 an hr, but I'm not sure yet, still waiting for more answers.

Job Resume? For a stylist position at a salon.?

    I have to write ';';A short, yet powerful statement of how I will be of value to their company';

    %26amp; include ';the skill I have that relates to it, which can count as my qualifications'; and ';the company's needs and where there match my ability to deliver';

It's for a salon job, as a stylist. I would appreciate any thoughts, thank you.Job Resume? For a stylist position at a salon.?
As the author of the job search book ';Think Like an Interviewer: Your Job Hunting Guide to Success,'; think of that statement as being your answer to the interview question, ';Why should I hire you?'; And that's a question I discuss in my book because it's so important to employers today!

You should concentrate on your ability to keep up with the latest trends and styles. In this business, what's in-fashion one moment is out the next. So you must remain current in order to be successful!

In addition, you should focus on how well you're able to relate to your clients. Remember, this is a very people-oriented profession! And so, it's vital that you are able to develop strong and lasting relationships with your clients. That way, they'll come back to you again and again.

Plus, you'll probably run into clients who don't know exactly what they want. Or ones who seek your advice or opinion. For example, maybe I'm thinking of having my hair styled one way. You may feel that's not a good fit for me. So you make a better suggestion to help me out. Or maybe you'll encounter someone who's torn between two products. Now you have to advise as to which would be the best one.Job Resume? For a stylist position at a salon.?
A stylist position does fit under an art form, treat it with respect but remember you are providing a service. So...

Emphasis that you want to bring to the workplace current styles and trends. This will show that you want to provide to the company. If they ask you how, explain that you keep to date with current events. Many people are influenced by people who they see often such as actors.

Explain how the job is a service and how you want to please the clients. The client might not always be right, but you want to provide the best service that represents the turning style of the salon while pleasing the customer.

A good place to start is a search for your state's Department of Professional Regulation. Some states require the location or business to be licensed, some require the individual, some require both. Good luck!Do I need to have a hair stylists license or certification to open a salon?
If you'd like an accurate answer, you'll need to provide complete information, which is the city and state (or province or country) you plan on doing business.

Everyone has different regulations - anyone who answers without that knowledge may be answering true for their location, but not for yours.
Go in person to your County Clerk or to the State Comptroller to see what permits or licenses you'll need.

I would also recommend this place in case you need a wholesale beauty supplier.
    yes, you probably do.

comes from your state government, so either search their website or ask google to do it for you.

yeah, once i had a horrible haircut, but there wasn't actually something i could complain about because there wasn't something obviously wrong with the cut, it just didn't look right. minimum wage. I worked for regis and they don't pay. I've also worked for great clips and fantastic sams. So far fantastic sams pays the best and i'm still there. Great clips does offer incentives though. such as if you close or work weekends you get paid more. But company wise i prefer FS. Salary wise depends on where you live.

Going to a salon to get my brows done. What do I ask the stylist.?

Male Xdresser,Going to a salon to get my brows done. What do I ask the stylist.?
Don't do anything extreme. Since you are male they will probably have to remove more hair to give you a natural looking femine shape. Ask the stylist to give you traditional, natural looking brows. Make sure to ask what will happen as they grow out so you will not be in for any surprizes. Ask her for hints to do it at home if you'd want to do it yourself in the future. I do mine at home with just tweezers and it works pretty well. Be prepared for a little bit of pain. Good Luck.Going to a salon to get my brows done. What do I ask the stylist.?
Just tell them to keep your natural shape, and to clean up the stray hairs.

Can I ask for the ';best'; stylist in a salon if I go cut my hair?

I had been to the JCPenney Salon once and I thought they did an ok job, but the stylist was still a ';student'; or in-training so I was wondering if I can call them and ask what they're recommendations for my type of hair/style. Is it alright to do that? Cause I don't want people at the salon to misunderstand.

And also, if you been to JCP Hair Salon, how was the service for you? would you recommend another place...such as

Tell them to make your hair thinner at the bottom %26amp; have short layers near the top or 'crown area' of your head.

Emo/Scene hair is very choppy, and sort of 'shag' like.

What is the etiquette for changing stylists in the same salon?

    First call to see what days the one you're avoiding isn't working (they assume you are making an appointment with that stylist and need to know), then when you find out when he/she won't be there, then you say'; thank you, let me check my schedule, I'll call you right back';. Then call back in a half hour and say'; I only have so and so day available (that day will just happen to be the day your old stylist isn't there), so can I make an appointment with the other so and so?';

Hair cuttery/Supercuts vs. Expensive salons - stylist difference?

I am just curious - given that stylists presumably have to graduate from some kind of beauty school and show their skill during the interview, what precisely is the difference between a hair cut at a less expensive place like Hair cuttery or Supercuts and something that charges $100 for a cut. I know that the atmosphere is different in more expensive salon, but what precisely do you get there that justifies the higher price tag for a hair cut?Hair cuttery/Supercuts vs. Expensive salons - stylist difference?
I think it depends on your hair type. I have straight easy to work with hair and I've tried to go to both a nice fancy salon and haircuttery and it looked the same. Also, if you are going to get a basic haircut or a new style.. new fancy style i'd do it at the expensive place just because they're supposed to be more chic and trendy but anything basic go to Haircuttery..Hair cuttery/Supercuts vs. Expensive salons - stylist difference?
It's a mix of two things, skill and training. There are Stylists, Barbers, Hair Designers %26amp; Hair Technician. The more training you get, the more you can offer your clients. There are some Barbers who are amazing at cutting hair but make poor stylists. Then there are the Designers %26amp; Technician who usually have a lot more training than just a barber.

However, no matter how much training you have, it comes down to your skill as an artist.

Skilled ';Hair Artists'; end up working for themselves usually, the others work at ';Super Cuts';.
I've been to both, hair cuttery type salons and expensive salons, I believe the quality and finishing of an expensive salon is better, most of the times. (Unless one runs into an inexperienced stylist or something. I always do some research before going to a new salon, especially an expensive one and the expensive salons will also give you a free consultation most of the time if you ask for one.
well its probably the stylist, because some people got it %26lt;talent%26gt; and some don't...usually the people who don't get good clientele end up at a place like supercuts. my hair dresser or rents a booth at a salon and she has a big clientele i work in a hospital and i send her lots of people. just like here in the hospital i draw blood from babies and kids and there are people that come here and cant hang or get it so they get sent off to a dr's office or some outpatient place.

What color roses to give to hair stylists at the beauty salon i go to?

I go to this beauty salon and i dont really know all of them there, but for valentines i would like to send roses to them. They are pretty cute girls in there, so what color rose would be best to give someone that you dont know but you like them? Its just to build a relationship of friendship.

Also how should i do it? should i have someone drop them off for me? should i put a note or have their name on each rose?

I want this to be a surprise and maybe secret. What color roses to give to hair stylists at the beauty salon i go to?
    Yellow roses for sure..

What i would do is if you want them eatch to have one, put a small card on eatch one.. Then have them sent over there and handed out...

    Thats really sweet..

Deb :)What color roses to give to hair stylists at the beauty salon i go to?
Yellow roses are supposed to be for friendship, but I have to say that I've never really liked the yellow ones for Valentine's day; I'd go for pink ones. You might consider sending each one a small arrangement of (perhaps) three blossoms; I'm sure that you'll be fine if you simply put ';Happy Valentine's Day'; on the card.
you should have someone to drop for them, yes, a note will do for each name...............not only roses...........but like a bouquet of different flowers. maybe the florist can help you choose the best ones..........

I went to so called upscale salon $$$ for a body wave and the stylist forgot me?

She left it on too long and burnt my hair. She was talking on the phone. My hair was very long and now I have cut it many times. It has to be cut short several times to get the fried mess off. What can I do to get it to grow faster. I hate my hair this short. It's easier for me long. Thanks for your help. I hate my hair.I went to so called upscale salon $$$ for a body wave and the stylist forgot me?
prenatal vitamins DO work, trust me, at any rate, this should be a lawsuit! Seriously! She should of set a timer, and if she didnt and burned your hair thats unproffestional, she needs to loose her licance and be fired! If i were you i would go talk to the manager or owner of the store and tell them that eather she gets fired and THEY do every thing THEY can to fix your hair or your going to a lawyer, i cant believe that wasnt offered to you, fried hair is hard to fix but it is fixable, nexxus makes a product called Emergency, its EXPENSIVE though for a treatment, but they should of offered you a few of those FOR FREE, and matrix makes this stuff called instacure that is really awsome stuff, my mom fried her hair from coloring it so much and her hair is shiney after about a bottle, i think it sells for about 20 bucks, maybe 30... there are things the salon could of done for you, yes you might of needed a cut but i can imagine it being so bad that EMERGENCY wouldnt of fixed it, i would be at my lawyers office if i were you, obviously you can offord a good salon so you should be able to offord a few hundred bucks for a lawyer, this woman needs her licsance barred!!!I went to so called upscale salon $$$ for a body wave and the stylist forgot me?
prenatal vitamins , and of course free hair care for about 1 year from the crazy stylist who ruined it.
Sorry, but there is really not much you can do. It'll just take time. Those pills and supplements and shampoos, don't really make a difference at all.

But trust me it will not take as long as it will seem

I grew my hair out from damn near bald to my shoulders. It seemed like it took forever! The best thing you can do, is pick out some hair styles you like from the books for you to do when it grows out to that point. That way while you're waiting for it to get as long as you want, you can do some styles you never would have considered before. Spice it up a little, you never know, you might happen on one that really works for you.
Pernatial vitanins. I hope you didn't pay her. I'd picket the place.
Take vitamin E supplements. That helps. Go to GNC, they have special supplements for nail and hair growth. Good luck, and you should slash the tires of the woman that did this.
I ALWAYS SUGGEST DOO GRO. YOU CAN FIND IT IN A HAIR STORE.

I ALWAYS DISCOURAGE TAKING PRENATAL PILLS IF YOU ARENT PREGNANT.
    one word: LAWSUIT!!

write a letter to the manager of the salon, as well as to whatever department in your state licenses beauticians %26amp; stylists. maybe even a letter to the editor of your local newspaper! picketing the salon might not be bad either (but you might want to check with the local cops to see if it's legal ... if that's a concern). and then get some hair extensions if you really can't stand short hair.
