When you choose a stylist/salon do you favor stylist/salons of your own race?

I'm sad to say I do.


In this day and age we shouldn't act this way, and should rely on people of all races, and mind you, I don't mind a nail technician, or a beautician (who does waxing or facials) to be of any particular race.


It's just my hair. It's this sub conscious idea, that because someone doesn't have the same type of hair as me, they wont know how to handle it. (I'm sure many black African girls, feel the same about white hairstylists, in the fear that they will break their hair)


This is stupid I know, most hairstylist train for years on all hair types, and I guess that if I walked into a very expensive top quality salon in central London, and a hairdresser of another race was selected to do my hair, I'd assume, that working in a top class hair salon, he/she must have a lot of experience, and I'm bound to trust him/her.


So in the end I guess it boils down to whether I know, or whether the conditions are right for me to assume, that this person has got enough experience with my hair type.When you choose a stylist/salon do you favor stylist/salons of your own race?

Yes, I feel they might be the only ones who understand my hair %26amp; what it's going to take to achieve by beauty goals. Race isn't so much the factor---I prefer stylists who have the same kind of hair %26amp; want similar solutions---which usually ends up being someone of the same race. AND I prefer the same sex---female. I don't have a lot of faith in a man doing my hair/makeup-- There's a misconception that men of a certain orientation are more likely to be born with a beauty-and-design-industry-expert gene.

yea cause then they know how to do our hair better cause they no what to deal with. If you go to a white hair salon and ask for a perm/relaxer they 1. say they dont do them or 2. give you a perm for white hair. If you do to a black hair salon they will hook u up grl! And put your hair in a nice style! So yea I say so!
white people don't realy know how to do black hair most likely the salon wont have the right kind of hair products needed for your hair type. i would stick with some one with the same hair type as you. same thing with white girls if you have curly hair, try to find a stylist with curly hair too then she knows just how to handle it.
